Julia spent a summer during college in Santa Barbara, California to work and be close to her sister, and dad’s side of the family. She worked as a waitress at the Minnow Cafe. Nick had been living in Santa Barbara for a few years by then and was working at the Santa Barbara Fish Market, next door to the Minnow. Julia had a crush on Nick, but would never speak to him. On July 18th, 2005 Nick said to Julia through the SB Fish Market window “So, you wanna go out later?!” (ongoing joke/phrase between the future Mr. & Mrs. Nick Fossati).
They went on their first date that night to see Wedding Crashers. Julia knew there was something special about this budding romance when Nick asked her not to leave at the end of her summer break because “I finally found you.” Julia returned to Pennsylvania at the end of the summer to finish college. Nick booked a ticket to PA a week later to visit Julia.
The next 2 years consisted of huge phone bills, flights across the country every other month, and many “movie nights” (where the couple would rent the same movie, press play at the same time, and sit on the phone for the whole movie- haha).
It was a true test of their love for one another. Julia then took a leap of faith after college and moved to Oregon on July 23rd, 2007.
They both take another leap of faith on July 23rd, 2011 to share their lives together, forever. Julia and Nick got married at one of my favorite places to photograph at the Arista Ballroom in Portland, OR.
